[7th Edition - MYC] Ideas, Link In Bio, Tasks (again)

Good afternoon everyone!

Welcome back to the journey of building the future of higher ed social media intelligence.

Thank you for following along. If you're new here, the purpose of this newsletter is to keep y'all informed on what's working & new, and the occasional ask for feedback to help shape the product further.

I finally did it, y'all. I jinxed it. I finally got sick. I was bragging because I hadn't been sick yet this year, and I got knocked down a peg. I really thought the fact I had been sick most of my childhood would've given me enough antibodies to give me one season of no-sickness, but alas. Anyways, still hard at work in between Dayquil, continuing on working. LOTS of updates, sorry for the long read.

TL;DR (Too Long, Didn’t Read)

  • Ideas/Views is working—fully bring inspiration to draft to published

  • Link in Bio tool available

  • Tasks get improved (again)

WHAT’S NEW

Entire Workflow is Now In Ideas!

We are wanting the content creation process to be a fluid process of saving content to idea creation to draft to post. We recognize many of the solutions are not dynamic, leading to many workflows or statuses that don't fit the needs of you or your team. Ideas can be customized to have the statuses you want or don't want. If you don't need a "Needs Approval" status, hide it. If you need extra variables on posts as you workshop the content, add them! All in all, it allows you to drag content through the creation flow to ultimately post seamlessly! This has been the culmination of so many people's feedback, so thank you all (you know who you are)!

Research → Idea → Draft → Published

Link In Bio Tool

There's tons of data being underutilized on social. MeetYourClass has technology to track prospective student link clicks on social, and we wanted to bring that here! We noticed there were two common link in bios: either traditional link trees or Sprout links. With Sprout links, anecdotally, there'd almost always be other links in the bio. We thought, why choose? There are not only those options for link in bio, but also our own take on what would be the best link in bio tool for higher ed through Dynamic Audience—user picks their status once, then certain links will show. We will remember that and use it, but it also gives more analytics on who's clicking what! This definitely still has a few improvements needed, but it’s great to get a good start!

Different options for Link in Bio! There will be built-in WCAG compliance checking to ensure you're complying with new accessibility requirements.

Tasks Improved (2x)!

Tasks get two improvements in the same week? Wow! As you assign tasks, once it is completed you will receive a notification. Perfect for knowing where your student workers are at! For typing out tasks, simply typing dates or people will smartly auto-assign it as the deadline or person who the task is assigned to! Very small changes but might save a few clicks. Both of these were direct pieces of feedback which are always my favorite improvements I can make!

Notifications after completing a task.

CHALLENGES / ASKS / WHAT’S NEXT

What Are All The Systems / Groups You Want to Monitor?

The most common feedback we've gotten is in research—the ability to add groups (Big Ten, Ivies, etc.). We're planning on:

Systems: UCs, CSUs, CUNY, SUNY, University of Texas System, TAMUs, University of Wisconsin

Groups: Ivies, HBCUs, Open Admissions

Divisions: D1, D2, D3

Conferences: ACC, Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, American Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference, Pac-12 Conference, Sun Belt Conference

Are there any others you want to see?

As always, I appreciate you all for your help so far. I'm very excited to keep this going. Be on the lookout on Fridays for my quick updates.

We're always seeking your valuable advice and feedback. If you have any insights, thoughts, or ideas that you believe can contribute to our growth, we're all ears.

Thank you, once again, for being a part of our journey.

Best regards,

Blake
